New Camera!
June 6, 2009Things are getting busy in my photography land - and I am feeling pretty lucky. I have been spending most of my nights and weekends kicking it into high gear from some awesome gigs. I promise to blog about them this weekend, and have them posted early this coming week.
But, I wanted to take a second to introduce you to a couple of new cameras that are in my camera bag.
First, I picked up a back up camera. Why do you care? Why am I telling you? Well, I thought it was important for any potential clients that may be reading this to show that I am prepared. Having a back up camera is insurance - and when shooting weddings, corporate events - or even a studio shoot or models…..a back up is 100% necessary. What if something goes wrong with the first camera? What do you do when you are at a wedding and your camera stops? What about the expenses of a studio shoot, only to be wasted because my camera randomly stopped working?
Well, rest assured….I am covered.
I also picked up a fun camera, that I cannot wait to try. I picked up a cheap, Holga camera. What is a holga? A Holga is an inexpensive medium format plastic camera. It is mainly referred to a “toy”, but there is a huge following of hobbyist (and pros) that like this option of camera. The Holga is known for its bad quality, artistic style of images. Which is exactly why I bought it. And it’s FILM!
I have never shot film before, but I plan on using this regularly on most of my shoots to take 12-16 exposures for some variety. It won’t be the main pictures - but some fun ones I think will be really neat.
I plan on shooting a roll this weekend, just of the kids and stuff - and once I get it developed I will put it up for everyone to check out.
